Mathematics
Mathematics instruction has begun changing as the Common Core Standards have students learning topics in greater depth and with more understanding. Rather than purely computing answers to mathematical equations students are being required to think about their answers and they must be able to demonstrate and explain how they came to their answer. The phrase,"we are now studying math related topics a mile deep and an inch long rather than a mile long and an inch deep" embodies the objectives and goals of mathematics study for the 21st Century. Students in New York State from Grades 3 through 8 are expected to take and pass the NYS Mathematics Assessment which is generally given to them in the spring. The same applies to students in Florida. In Florida however the assessments are called FSA assessments.
Below are math resources for students and teachers I believe are helpful and provide interactive sites that may be used in the classroom to enhance learning opportunities.
