English Language Arts and Literacy
In the past, English Language Arts where thought to include competencies in Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. The Common Core Standards for English Language Arts and Literacy now define these standards as inclusive of Literacy in History/Social Studies, Sciences and Technical Subjects. The K-12 standards have been raised in order to create a culture of consistency in education and prepare students for college and careers no later than at the end of high school. At this time, 42 states and the District of Columbia have adopted the Common Core Standards. Alaska, Indiana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, and Virginia have not adopted the Standards. Minnesota has only adopted the English Language Arts Standards.
Students are expected to develop skills in reading and comprehension far beyond the classroom and become critical thinkers in order to demonstrate logical reasoning and make rational judgments and discoveries as responsible, productive, and reflexive members of a democratic society.

Here I have provided a variety of links and resources for students of all ages to use and have fun learning in school or at home!
